About the course

English and Intercultural Awareness

This course is for those who want to develop their English conversation and discussion skills further while raising their intercultural awareness. Building on our English Conversation classes, this discussion-style course gives participants a chance to talk about a variety of interesting topics in greater detail and depth. We will explore the differences between Japanese and non-Japanese communication styles, cultural norms and etiquettes around the world, how to express yourself clearly, World Englishes, and more. The course also intends to expand your worldview and increase the understanding of different ways of expression, in addition to furthering your English skills.

Kako Koshino

Kako Koshino teaches undergraduate courses at Lakeland University Japan Campus. She has a Ph.D. degree in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University Bloomington. She has taught Human Diversity in Educational Communities, Intercultural Communication, and English at universities in the United States and Japan for a total of 13 years.
